Our workshops and training introduce the concepts associated with life story work for individuals or those within the education or health and social care sector. Both our training and workshop explore how direct work with individuals can be a therapeutic process, promoting a positive sense of personal identity, value and wellbeing.

TECC's Life Story Workshop ~ 1/2 day 

Our 1/2 da
y Life Story Workshop is an introduction and framework to introduce life story work, which is for parents/carers, family members, teaching staff or those in the health and social care sector. You will be encouraged to explore and gain understanding of the process and significance life story work can have with individuals and consider the emotional impact upon them and where necessary implement necessary safety measures and due care. 

TECC's 1/2 day course in Birmingham includes:   

  • Understand the significance of life story work with individuals and the emotional impact
  • Explore a range of possible methods
  • Review existing resources and how they can be adapted
  • Gain understanding of the importance of planning, structure and consistency
  • Mindful awareness and due care when completing life story work
  • Promote empathy and resilience
  • Practical exercises and activities to apply theory to practice
  • Awareness of different resources, groups and further information

TECC's Life Story Training ~ 1 day

Our one day life story training programme is for those who wish to apply life story work to their work setting. The training includes the course syllabus for the introduction to life story work as well as exploring; legal aspects, safeguarding, data protecion, confidentiality, current legislation, guidelines and standards. Delegates will also explore legal guidance in relation to producing life story work with children and young people, including children and young people who are cared for in the looked after children's sector.

TECC's 1 day course in Birmingham includes: 

  • Risk assessment and safeguarding children and young people
  • Legislation and guidelines
  • Life story work with both individuals and groups
  • Mindful awareness of ethical constraints, safeguarding, confidentiality, informed consent, dignity and respect
  • Support to design, deliver and evaluate a life story project and provide feedback

The training is provided in a friendly, informative and supportive environment at our centre in Birmingham, alternatively it can be provided at a location for your convenience. The written activities and practical creative exercises provide consistent opportunities to promote confidence and competence, enabling the training to be evaluated and evidenced. 

TECC provides regular booster sessions and group supervision in relation to life story work as our passion and commitment in this area is integral to our continuum of providing value added training, support and services. Delegates will receive detailed literature and additional resources to further support life story work.
