TECC Services in Birmingham is very proud to provide a Certified First Aid Course for Parents/Carers, which has been specifically developed to enable: individuals, parents, carers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, baby sitters and anyone else caring for babies, children and young people to feel confident in the event of an emergency.

We strongly believe basic first aid skills should be accessible by all and are delighted to be in a position to offer discounted training as part of our company policy; inclusive access for all.

During the training you will be able to ask questions and learn about conditions related to babies, children and young people which may help reduce some of your fear and anxiety surrounding; knowing what to do in the event something happens or what to look for.

We will explore and learn how to manage:

  • Febrile Convulsions & fits
  • Recognise the indicators for meningitis
  • Poisoning
  • Head injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Cuts and grazes
  • Control of bleeding
  • Chocking
Additional to learning about the signs and symptoms related to babies, children and young people you will have the opportunity to practice basic life saving techniques in a comfortable, relaxed and friendly environment. You will also learn how to apply these skills to those who are pregnant as procedures for life support are different.

You will have the opportunity to learn and or apply:

  • First aid priorities for babies, children and young people
  • Administration of basic first aid
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Unconsciousness
  • Recovery positions
  • CPR – Cardio pulmonary resuscitation
  • Basic accident prevention
  • Managing incidents
  • First aid in the home, garden and car

Certification is based on a short multiply choice questionnaire and practical observation of skills. You will be consistently supported throughout the day at our Centre in Birmingham by fully qualified staff who aim to provide you with the opportunity to gain confidence and competence in an emergency situation. You will be provided with handouts and a First Aid Manual. Those who complete the course and reach the required standards will be issued with a certificate that is valid for 3 years.
If you require an accredited HSE course, please refer to our Paediatric section.

* Under the current guidelines it is 'strongly recommended' that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every 12 months before completing full re-qualification training at the three year point.
