Group Support in Birmingham

Welcome to TECC's Group Support

TECC Services provides therapeutic group support in a relaxed, friendly, comfortable and confidential environment at our Centre in Birmingham.

We at TECC recognise how often the support available is not always accessible if you have children or work commitments, hence why we provide our group services. Our groups are during the day and some evenings during the week, we ask for a nominal fee to cover printing costs, hand-outs and of course, tea, coffee and biscuits.

Group support sessions last for up to 2 hours and comprise of the first hour being largely informative, addressing the specific needs of the group. The second hour is a space for group discussion, where you will have the opportunity to talk to people who may be in similar circumstances, this can give you insight, not only into things that work, but things that don’t, it also gives you the opportunity to gain new friends and build a network of support.

Support groups currently available include support for:

  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Low self esteem
  • Domestic violence
  • Substance misuse
  • Survivors of childhood sexual abuse
  • Anyone affected by sexual assault/rape
  • Eating disorders

We have found therapy in small groups to be a useful way for individuals to gain insight and understanding. It also provides the opportunity to feel and comprehend that you are not alone and there is a space where you can feel safe, accepted and understood. TECC genuinely believes our therapeutic groups can provide a vital source of support by creating the opportunity for individuals to; learn additional skills and gain knowledge, which can be integrated into your day-to-day life.

Breaking isolation and regularly having somewhere to go, along with the opportunity to laugh and cry with others, not forgetting the fight over the last biscuit each week, can be the most important thing and what you need. We do not believe anyone should be made to feel alone and offer a rotating group programme on a need to basis.

For individuals interested in our group services you would be expected to agree to our group contract, which bestows concise details of confidentiality.
